Local insurance professionals are important partners of CIS in providing services to CIS-member entities. While the CIS Trust does not appoint local agents as a sales force to produce business, members are encouraged to engage the services of local insurance professionals to act as an additional local resource to help reduce risks and control losses. CIS values its relationship with agents, and has since the inception of the CIS program.
Members choose their agents, define the services that the local agents will provide, and the method of compensation. Click here for a sample list of services that a public entity may ask its agent to provide. As a courtesy to members, CIS collects from the member the designated amount of agent compensation as part of the annual renewal invoice, and pays agents accordingly.
